Holes – About the Author

Louis Sachar

Louis Sachar, an American children’s book author, is most famous for his Wayside School series and his Newberry Award-winning novel, Holes (1998). Born in 1954 in New York, he studies economics in California. It in his time at university during which he worked as a teacher’s aide that he discovered his true love: writing for children.

Since this discovery, he has gone on to write dozens of novels, the most famous of which has been Holes, which was turned into a movie by Walt Disney in 2003.
